HOW TO
Straight-Arm Cable Pulldown technique.
Use a load and range you can control consistently.
- Set a straight bar or rope on a high cable and step back with the arms long.
- Hinge slightly at the hips and brace the trunk.
- Keep a soft elbow bend as you sweep the attachment down toward the thighs.
- Pause with the lats shortened without leaning backward.
- Return slowly until the arms are overhead and the lats are stretched.

MUSCLES WORKED
Lats and teres major.
Muscle contribution changes with setup, range, load and individual technique.
COMMON MISTAKES
Keep the rep consistent.
- Turning it into a triceps pushdown
- Bending the elbows more as the bar comes down
- Using torso momentum
- Stopping before reaching a useful overhead stretch
PROGRESSION
Make the next session comparable.
Keep your setup and range similar, log your working sets, reps and load, then use the previous session as your reference.
