HOW TO
Hip Abduction Machine technique.
Use a load and range you can control consistently.
- Sit securely with the outer thighs against the pads and feet positioned as intended by the machine.
- Brace lightly and keep the pelvis stable.
- Drive the knees outward through a comfortable range.
- Pause briefly when the glutes are shortened.
- Return under control without letting the stack pull the legs together.

MUSCLES WORKED
Glute medius, glute minimus and upper glutes.
Muscle contribution changes with setup, range, load and individual technique.
COMMON MISTAKES
Keep the rep consistent.
- Rocking the torso to create momentum
- Using more range than the hips can control
- Letting the weight snap back
- Turning the feet dramatically to chase extra load
PROGRESSION
Make the next session comparable.
Keep your setup and range similar, log your working sets, reps and load, then use the previous session as your reference.
