HOW TO
Dumbbell Step-Up technique.
Use a load and range you can control consistently.
- Choose a stable box height you can step onto without pushing off aggressively from the floor.
- Plant the whole working foot on the box and hold the dumbbells quietly at your sides.
- Lean slightly into the working leg and drive through that foot.
- Stand tall on the box without bouncing off the trailing leg.
- Lower with control and repeat before changing sides.

Muscle contribution changes with setup, range, load and individual technique.
COMMON MISTAKES
Keep the rep consistent.
- Pushing hard from the trailing foot
- Using a box that is too high to control
- Letting the working knee collapse inward
- Dropping quickly from the box
PROGRESSION
Make the next session comparable.
Keep your setup and range similar, log your working sets, reps and load, then use the previous session as your reference.
