HOW TO
Cable Glute Kickback technique.
Use a load and range you can control consistently.
- Attach an ankle strap to a low cable and hold the station for balance.
- Set the working hip under the torso with a soft bend in the knee.
- Drive the leg back from the hip without arching the lower back.
- Pause when the glute is shortened and the pelvis is still controlled.
- Return slowly until the hip reaches a comfortable stretched position.

MUSCLES WORKED
Glutes, especially gluteus maximus.
Muscle contribution changes with setup, range, load and individual technique.
COMMON MISTAKES
Keep the rep consistent.
- Overextending the lower back to create range
- Swinging the leg for momentum
- Rotating the pelvis open
- Using a load that shortens the movement
PROGRESSION
Make the next session comparable.
Keep your setup and range similar, log your working sets, reps and load, then use the previous session as your reference.
