HOW TO
Behind-the-Body Cable Lateral Raise technique.
Use a load and range you can control consistently.
- Set a low cable and stand so the cable passes slightly behind the body.
- Hold the handle with a soft elbow bend and keep the torso still.
- Raise the arm out to the side without twisting toward the stack.
- Lead with the elbow and stop at a comfortable shoulder height.
- Lower slowly into the stretched position behind the body.

MUSCLES WORKED
Side delts.
Muscle contribution changes with setup, range, load and individual technique.
COMMON MISTAKES
Keep the rep consistent.
- Rotating the torso to create range
- Shrugging the shoulder
- Letting the cable pull the arm abruptly behind the body
- Using too much load to maintain the path
PROGRESSION
Make the next session comparable.
Keep your setup and range similar, log your working sets, reps and load, then use the previous session as your reference.
